Authorities have charged a Burlington Township man with killing a Willingboro store clerk the night before Thanksgiving.

Eramus Canty, 31, was arrested just after midnight Saturday in Asbury Park, N.J., after police discovered his red Dodge Charger at a convenience store on Memorial Drive, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

Investigators, who had determined that Canty was a suspect, had released information about the vehicle to other law enforcement agencies before he was arrested and charged with murder. His bail will be set Monday in Superior Court in Mount Holly.

The Prosecutor's Office said Canty shot Matthew Mwinsori, 42, of Willingboro, during a struggle in the parking lot of the Quick N Go store in the 100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Willingboro.

The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. Nov. 25, after Canty demanded money from Mwinsori, authorities said. Mwinsori was pronounced dead about an hour later at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County.

The store owner, Sunpreet Singh, said that Mwinsori had emigrated from Ghana to the United States several years ago for better opportunities, and that Mwinsori was sending money back to his family in Ghana. Singh said Mwinsori had a young daughter there.
