Accident on NJ Turnpike leaves one dead, one in serious

A person was killed and another seriously injured Monday night in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County, state police said.

The accident occurred just before 9:45 p.m. on the shoulder of the southbound lanes in Mount Laurel. A pickup truck struck a man working on a disabled tractor-trailer, state police said.

It was not immediately clear who was killed, but a second person was taken to Cooper University Hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
