Cherry Hill's Inn of the Dove robbed by bearded bandit
Police are looking for a man who was caught on camera Tuesday morning robbing a self-described romantic adult motel in Cherry Hill.
Officers around 7:40 a.m. responded to a report of a robbery at the Inn of the Dove, located at 725 Cuthbert Blvd.
Surveillance footage captured an unidentified man lunging through the window separating the lobby from the office, grabbing a lone female employee in a bear hug and wrestling her to the ground. He then climbed over the counter and into the office, where he allegedly stole cash from the register. Police said the suspect, described as a black male of about 35 years of age with a full beard, fled on foot.
The Inn of the Dove, which also has locations in Egg Harbor, Bensalem and Harrisburg, boasts a full range of gaudily-appointed honeymoon suites with names like "Orange Deluxe," "Purple Deluxe" and the "Dove Pool Suite," which the motel's website call "the ultimate in seductive seclusion." There's even an "Eagles Room" with wall murals and linens stamped with the Birds' logo, plus a replica of a goal post behind the bed.
There's not yet word on how much cash the suspect stole in Tuesday's robbery of the inn, and no arrests have yet been made. Anyone with information about the crime or the suspect's identity is asked to contact Det. Pete Benedetti at 856-432-8835.
