The former director of a New Jersey high school marching band is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday.

Jason Koenig, 26, was employed at Hammonton High School until last week, when he reportedly resigned.

A warrant for Koenig's arrest was issued Thursday on charges of official misconduct, sexual assault, criminal sexual conduct and endangering the welfare of children. Investigators were still searching for the suspect Thursday evening.

Prosecutors said the assault occurred in November and December of 2013, as Koenig worked as an aide at the high school and directed the marching band.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit Det. Danielle Rosiello at 609-909-7986, or Hammonton police Det. Peter Hagerty at 609-561-4000, ext 231.
