Police are looking for a group of men who allegedly carjacked a 70-year-old driver Tuesday night outside a motel in Absecon, N.J.

Police said the victim and a female passenger pulled into the parking lot of the Executive Lodge on Absecon Boulevard around 6:45 p.m., with the suspects pulling up directly behind them.

Surveillance cameras caught one suspect getting out of the car and walking to the front desk of the motel, police said.

He allegedly waited there as two other male suspects exited the car and began walking toward the rooms, according to investigators.

Police said those two men confronted the victim and passenger as they got out of their vehicle.

One of the men, armed with a handgun, allegedly assaulted the driver and took various items, including the keys to his 1998 maroon Mercedes Benz 430, investigators said.

Police said the two suspects left the parking lot in the victim's car, heading west on Absecon Boulevard.

The third man then left the lobby, returned to the vehicle in which the suspects arrived, and followed the Mercedes out of the lot, according to investigators.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries, called police.

The two suspects not pictured in surveillance footage are described as black males in their mid-30s with light facial hair, one of them about six feet tall and 180 pounds; the second about 5-foot-10 inches tall, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Absecon Police Department at 609-641-0667, or to call Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-658-TIPS.
