The mother of a South Jersey man charged in January with killing his wife was arrested this morning on charges of helping her son attempt to conceal his actions after he committed the crime.

Jo Crosby, 67, Sicklerville, was charged with one count of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence by destroying records.

Her son Kyle Crosby, 28, of Mount Laurel, was charged Jan. 13 with the murder of Erica Crippen, 26.

Jo Crosby was taken into custody this morning at her home about 6:30 a.m. by law enforcement officers from the Mount Laurel Police Department, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, and the Gloucester Township Police Department.

"We believe Jo Crosby played a major role in helping her son Kyle conceal the crime of murder," said Prosecutor Robert Bernardi. "She assisted his efforts to conceal the body of his wife, Erica Crippen, after he took her life."

The prosecutor, in a statement, said that due to the ongoing investigation, he would not discuss the specific acts that led to charges against Jo Crosby.

Bail for Jo Crosby was set at $12,500. She is scheduled to make a first appearance this afternoon in Superior Court in Burlington County.

Erica Crippen's remains have not yet been recovered. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Erica Crippen is asked to contact Burlington County communications at 609-265-7113.
