N.J. man killed in motor scooter crash

An Atlantic County man was killed when his motor scooter was struck by a car.

Galloway Township police said 52-year-old Joseph Strike died after a 2007 Toyota Corolla hit his scooter on Moss Mill Road near Quail Hill Boulevard in Smithville shortly after 6:15 p.m. Monday.

A witness told investigators that Strike's scooter was stopped in the eastbound lane of Moss Mill Road prior to being struck by the Corolla, driven by 24-year-old Michael Ryan of Galloway Township.

Police said Strike, also of Galloway, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
