Toms River school buses engulfed in flames

The cause of the fires remained under investigation.

A police officer on patrol in Toms River, N.J., overnight found three school buses gutted and engulfed in flames, police said.

About 2:40 a.m. Friday, the officer, who was on patrol on State Route 37, saw smoke and traced the source of the fire to a bus depot on the 2300 block of Industrial Way.

Toms River firefighters arrived on the scene and "ultimately extinguished the multiple fires," police said.
