David Unruh, Temple University's senior vice president for institutional advancement, resigned Friday, acting president Richard M. Englert announced in an e-mail to staff.

The departure of Unruh, who oversaw the launch of the university's recent "Temple Made" marketing campaign, comes just a couple of weeks before Neil Theobald will officially take over as president. Theobald repeatedly has cited fund-raising - which is done out of the institutional advancement office - as a priority. "It is not uncommon for a new president to put his own advancement team in place," Englert said in the e-mail.

During his three years at Temple, Unruh's office also launched a $100 million student scholarship fund-raising effort. Tilghman Moyer, associate vice president for institutional advancement, has been appointed interim vice president. - Susan Snyder
