Property tax/rent rebate deadline moved to Dec. 31

The deadline to apply for Pennsylvania's Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program for seniors and disabled residents has been extended from June 30 until the end of the year, according to Secretary of Revenue Tom Wolf.

The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians ages 65 and older; widows and widowers 50 and older; and people with disabilities 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 for homeowners; the maximum rebate for homeowners and renters is $650.

Qualifying homeowners in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Scranton whose incomes are $30,000 or less will receive additional money equal to 50 percent of their base rebates. Qualifying homeowners in the remainder of the state whose incomes are $30,000 or less and whose property tax bills equal more than 15 percent of their incomes will receive additional money equal to 50 percent of their base rebates.
