Center City lawyer sentenced in fraud case
A Center City lawyer was sentenced yesterday to two months in prison for pursuing fraudulent claims on behalf of two purported car-accident victims who turned out to be FBI undercover agents, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis D. Lappen.
Jordan B. Luber, 42, was among 35 people snared in late 2006 in a sting operation in which the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI set up a bogus chiropractic clinic in Northeast Philadelphia to catch those involved in fake personal-injury claims.
Luber pleaded guilty last year to mail fraud and health-care fraud. Other defendants have received sentences ranging from probation to as much as three years in prison, Lappen said.
