Now redevelopment chair, Nutter leads Guerra's firing
Mayor Nutter was named chairman of the Redevelopment Authority Board of Directors yesterday, and in one of his first acts he led a vote dismissing Robert Guerra, the authority's long-serving general counsel.
The maneuvers were part of the Nutter administration's comprehensive overhaul of the RDA. Last week, Nutter put trusted aide Terry Gillen in the post of authority executive director, and named himself and policy adviser Wendell Pritchett to the authority board.
Guerra, who had worked at the authority for 33 years, said he was given until the end of the day to clean out his office and leave.
Mayoral spokesman Doug Oliver said the administration was simply looking to bring in some of its own people, though no permanent replacement for Guerra was named yesterday.
