11 Pa. contractors are sued, accused of fraud
Eleven home-improvement contractors across the state, including two in the Philadelphia area, have been sued for allegedly defrauding customers of more than $660,000, which is being sought in restitution, Attorney General Tom Corbett announced yesterday.
The contractors, who include Art McKeown of West Chester and Kenneth Pomo of Philadelphia, are accused of accepting payments and failing to complete projects or for performing shoddy work, a news release said.
McKeown, doing business as AEM Custom Builders and Buildcrafters Inc., is also accused of using new consumer deposits to pay for previous projects, the suit said. Pomo, a paving and concrete specialist who operated as Ken Pomo General Contracting, is also accused of failing to inform consumers of their three-day right to cancel a contract, according to the suit.
