Pa. records year's 1st human case of West Nile virus
A Montgomery County woman is recovering from the state's first confirmed human case of West Nile virus this year, state Health Secretary Calvin B. Johnson said yesterday. The woman, 27, has been discharged from the hospital, Johnson said. Since the mosquito-borne virus was first identified in Pennsylvania in 2000, it has been found in all areas of the state and has returned each summer. Last year, there were 10 human cases of West Nile virus and no related deaths.
