Man gets 3 years for soil dumped at Burlco farm
A contractor has been sentenced to three years in prison for dumping contaminated soil at a Burlington County farm instead of an approved landfill.
The term given yesterday to James E. Haas Jr. followed a May guilty plea to contract fraud.
Prosecutors say the 65-year-old Southampton man falsified documents that 400 truckloads of soil from a bridge project in Trenton had been taken to the landfill.
Officials say the farm owner thought the material was clean fill.
