Two unions reach accords with Phila. School District

The school police union has reached a tentative one-year agreement with the Philadelphia School District, and the school administrators' union has ratified its one-year contract, according to a statement by school district officials yesterday.

The district has reached tentative agreements with three of the five unions whose contracts are up this year. The union that represents bus drivers and maintenance and custodial workers has agreed to a one-year deal that district officials expect will soon be ratified, spokeswoman Cecilia Cummings said.

The district is still negotiating with teachers and cafeteria workers. The cafeteria workers' union, Local 634, has agreed to a 30-day extension of its contract, and the 16,000-member Philadelphia Federation of Teachers agreed to a 60-day extension.
