Fund-raiser for Camden High band tonight

A performing-arts fund-raiser will be held tonight to help send Camden High School's marching band to Washington to take part in an inaugural festival competition.

Called Student Showcase of Talent, the event will start at 7 at Rutgers University-Camden's Gordon Theater.

The Camden Board of Education Foundation is sponsoring the event, which will include dance and musical performances. The group is trying to raise $40,000 to send the 75-member band and 10 chaperones to Washington and pay for the students to participate in the competition being put on by Heritage Festivals, a Utah-based events coordinator. Tickets are $25. They are available at the box office.
