FORKED RIVER, N.J. - The Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station is back online after being shut down for a week.
The plant automatically shut down the night of Nov. 28 due to a problem with one of its two main electrical transformers. During the shutdown, workers replaced the faulty transformer.
The station resumed producing electricity at 6:42 a.m. yesterday, said a spokesman for Exelon, the plant's operator. Oyster Creek supplies electricity to about 600,000 homes in South Jersey.
