Camden distributes home fire-safety equipment

The City of Camden launched a fire-prevention program yesterday involving the distribution of 1,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

The equipment was collected through donations from Lowe's in Maple Shade, the Camden Cogen power plant, the Camden City Latino Professional Firefighters organization, and both firefighters' unions, Local 2578 and Local 788.

The Fire Department said it would educate residents in how to use the equipment when it is distributed.
