Man faces additional charges in fatal crash

A Camden County man has been charged with death by auto in connection with a Nov. 16 collision that killed a Pennsylvania man at Erial and Hickstown Roads in Gloucester Township, near the Pine Hill border, authorities said yesterday.

Michael Whittingham, 53, of the first block of Wayside Road in Berlin, was previously charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and other offenses related to the incident.

Whittingham is accused of crashing his 2002 Dodge pickup into the driver's side door of a Ford pickup driven by Frank Serratore 3d, 56, of Folcroft, Delaware County. He also is accused of having a blood-alcohol level of .265. Serratore died of his injuries at Cooper University Hospital on Dec. 7.

If convicted, Whittingham faces a maximum 10-year sentence on the death-by-auto charge. He is free on bail.
