Man shot to death in East Frankford, police say

City homicide detectives last night were investigating a fatal shooting in the city's East Frankford neighborhood.

Police said the victim was taken to Frankford Hospital-Torresdale Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 8:22 p.m. - about an hour after he was shot while on the 5000 block of Cottage Street.

The victim, described only as a 20-year-old African American man, was shot once in the back of the head, once in the shoulder, and once in the lower back, police said.

No suspects were in custody last night and no other information was available.
