Philadelphia police say that a home invasion, sexual assault and robbery that took place Friday in the 4400 block of Spruce Street is similar to an October sexual assault and robbery in Center City.

Special Victims' Unit police said that about 3 p.m. Friday, a man with a knife approached a 22-year-old woman outside her apartment and forced her back inside.

He bound and gagged her and robbed her of a laptop, cell phone, iPod and cash.

At about 4:15 p.m., the 24-year-old roommate of the first victim arrived in the apartment. She was bound and gagged, sexually assaulted and robbed of an iPod, cash, bank card and cell phone, police said.

The assailant is described as a black man in his mid-to-late 20s, between six feet and six-foot-two, with a goatee. He was wearing a mask and cotton gloves, police said.

Police said he looks similar to a man who forced a woman and her boyfriend into her apartment in the 900 block of Clinton Street on Oct. 22, bound and gagged them, raped the woman and robbed them.
