A Bensalem man was wounded in the leg during a 31/2-hour standoff Tuesday night in which he allegedly fired a shotgun at township police. Adrian Porrazza, 22, was charged with aggravated assault on police and other crimes after being treated for the injury, which was not serious.

Police were called to Porrazza's home on Telly Lane shortly before 8 p.m., where he and his parents had been having a dispute, said Pat Ponticelli, Bensalem deputy public safety director. During the standoff, police said, Porrazza fired a shotgun several times inside the home, and also at least once at police, who returned fire.

Porrazza eventually surrendered, police said, and was being held yesterday in the Bucks County prison on $50,000 bail. No one else was injured. Ponticelli would not identify the officer who shot Porrazza, but said that the Bucks County District Attorney's Office would investigate and determine whether the use of deadly force by police was justified. - Larry King
