Small-plane crash in Hunterdon County kills 1

ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, N.J. - One person was killed and another seriously injured in the crash of a small plane in Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County, last evening, New Jersey State Police said.

State Police Sgt. Steve Jones said the single-engine Piper aircraft crashed sometime after 7 p.m. in a wooded area of the rural community about 30 miles northwest of Trenton. The identities of the victims were not immediately available.

Jones said the injured person, a male, was airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. There was no immediate word on his condition. The crash occurred about a quarter-mile east of Alexandria Field, a small airport in Pittstown.
