Repeated thefts reported at Delco car wash

Using a pry bar under the cover of darkness, a thief has repeatedly damaged change machines at a Delaware County car wash and stolen money, state police at the Media barracks said yesterday.

Based on surveillance photographs, police are seeking the public's help in apprehending a black male between the ages of 25 and 35, height of 6 feet to 6-foot-2, weighing 250 to 300 pounds, and seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The thefts at the Mr. Wizard Carwash on Route 202 in Concord Township, between Smithbridge and Naamans Creek Roads, have occurred overnight, and the suspect has been seen on foot, police said.

Since October 2008, the suspect has victimized the car wash multiple times, obtaining more than $2,000 in cash and causing hundreds of dollars of damage to the machines. The most recent theft occurred at 4:38 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Media barracks at 484-840-1000.
