Tracey Totten-Davis, 41, former property manager at a Chester County apartment complex, was remanded to Chester County Prison yesterday after failing to post 10 percent of $100,000 bail on a charge of embezzling nearly $500,000 between 2001 and 2008, West Whiteland Township police said.
Totten-Davis, of Coatesville, was arrested after executives of the Fitzpatrick Fanning Corp., owners of the Hollow Run Apartments, in the 1300 block of Pottstown Pike, noticed that she had paid $78,000 over two years to Choice Cleaning L.L.C. - three times more than had been paid to the previous cleaning company, according to police. Fitzpatrick Fanning executives then discovered that Totten-Davis owned Choice Cleaning, police said.
Totten-Davis also is accused of hiding rent payments and security deposits more than 700 times and funneling the money - more than $412,000 - into her personal bank account, police said. In addition, Totten-Davis charged home improvements worth $7,000 to the company, making the total loss to Fitzpatrick Fanning more than $497,000, police said. - Jeff Gammage
