St. Martin de Porres school changing its name

St. Martin de Porres Interparochial School in Germantown will change its name to DePaul Catholic School in September, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has announced.

The archdiocese said the Catholic elementary school at 44 W. Logan St. was changing its name to end confusion with another similarly named school, St. Martin de Porres Parish School at 2300 W. Lehigh Ave.

The Germantown school's new name was chosen to reflect its commitment to the philosophies of St. Vincent de Paul and the school's historical ties to the Vincentians, a religious order of priests and brothers who founded the school and staffed it. - Martha Woodall
