The former president of the Voorhees-based Harrison Career Institute was sentenced to 18 months in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced yesterday.

The former president of the Voorhees-based Harrison Career Institute was sentenced to 18 months in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced yesterday.

James Mannion, 62, of Palm Harbor, Fla., pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to defraud the U.S. Department of Education and to obstruct a federal audit.

Mannion was ordered by U.S. District Judge Stewart Dalzell to pay $115,128 in restitution to the Department of Education. He was sentenced on Thursday.

Harrison Career Institute was a for-profit vocational school with locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. It closed in 2007. - Robert Moran
