A Delaware County man has been charged with embezzling nearly $14,000 from the Radnor Girls Crew Club.
Edward Stavetski, a former treasurer with the club, used the money to pay tuition at Malvern Preparatory School, court documents allege. He is charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and related offenses.
Stavetski, 52, of Wayne, allegedly withdrew $13,900 from the club's bank account on Aug. 20 and processed the funds into a bank check. The check was then sent to Malvern Prep. The loss was detected in February after a new treasurer was elected. Stavetski could not be reached for comment.
The club's Web site states that the group is endorsed by Radnor High School but that the sport is not school-sponsored. The club receives funds from the school board. - Inquirer staff
