Thomas Lovett, of Middletown, slammed the 17-year-old girl's head against the concrete in the mall's parking lot at 7:40 p.m. Friday and then tried to gouge her eyes out, authorities said.
Lovett ran to a nearby wooded area and was confronted by officers, police said. He then picked up a brick and came after an officer, who shot him three times while backing away, according to police. He was pronounced dead at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown. The girl was treated for head injuries and released. - AP
