Dogs seized in Overbrook; owner charged

An Overbrook man was arrested yesterday on animal-cruelty charges after a raid on his home by the Pennsylvania SPCA found 18 dogs that investigators believe were being trained for fighting.

An Overbrook man was arrested yesterday on animal-cruelty charges after a raid on his home by the Pennsylvania SPCA found 18 dogs that investigators believe were being trained for fighting.

The raid was promoted by a report of a dead dog in the back of a home in the 900 block of Wynnewood Road, according to WPVI-TV (Channel 6).

The dogs were taken to an SPCA shelter for evaluation and treatment. Officers said they also seized a cache of weapons from the home, including semiautomatic weapons and ammunition. - Inquirer staff
