Mayor Nutter yesterday said 46 of the city's 73 outdoor pools would open for the summer, because of nearly $430,000 in donations.

All but 10 of the pools were set to close because of city budget cuts. However, Nutter restored some of the funding while also raising funds from the private sector through a "Splash and Summer Fund" drive. Private citizens also donated about $24,000.

The pools will open at various dates beginning June 23. To see a list of open pools as well as specific donors, go to www.heardinthehall.com - Marcia Gelbart
