HARRISBURG - Commonwealth Court Judge Doris Smith-Ribner said this week that she will retire this summer.

She said will leave the statewide appellate bench, where she has spent 21 years, after finishing her current cases. She said she planned to travel, write, and pursue other interests.

She was first elected in 1987 and returned to the bench for 10-year terms after retention votes in 1997 and 2007.

Smith-Ribner is a former solicitor for the Allegheny County controller and spent a short term on Allegheny County Court in the mid-1980s. - AP
