Passing on a double-yellow line proved fatal for a 25-year-old Delaware County man who was driving in Chester County with a suspended license, police said.

Joseph Hallman 3d of Aston was traveling west on Route 322 in West Bradford Township near Shadyside Road when his 1999 GMC pickup crossed into the eastbound lane early yesterday and collided head-on with a school bus, which was empty except for the driver, said state police from the Embreeville barracks.

The bus driver, Katherine McClatchy, 61, of Exton, was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center with unknown injuries, police said. Route 322 was closed for about five hours, police said. - Kathleen Brady Shea
