A police officer shot and wounded a man in the East Frankford section over the weekend, Philadelphia police said yesterday.

The incident happened Saturday night, after police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 4300 block of Cloud Street. When officers arrived, they encountered 29-year-old Hakim Johnson, who began arguing with them. Police said Johnson struck an officer and tried to run. The officers grabbed him, however, and one of them fired his sidearm during the struggle, hitting Johnson in the shoulder.

Johnson was charged with aggravated assault, along with weapons and drug offenses. He was taken to Aria Health-Frankford Campus. He is expected to recover from his injuries. - Allison Steele
