Two shot while sitting in a van in Olney

A 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were shot and wounded while sitting in a minivan in Olney late Monday night, Philadelphia police said yesterday.

Police found the man with two gunshot wounds to the head inside a 1997 Dodge Caravan on the 5700 block of Mascher Street about 11 p.m. The man, who lives nearby, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition yesterday.

Police said the woman, who lives in the block where the shooting occurred, checked into the hospital at 1 a.m. yesterday with a gunshot wound to the right arm. She told police two unknown men, both wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, walked up to the vehicle and started shooting, police said. - Naomi Nix
