Applications are being accepted for the fifth year of the Greater Philadelphia Cappies (Critics and Awards Program), in which high school students review plays and musicals at other schools under the guidance of faculty mentors.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Sept. 30. Cappies training will be held Oct. 4 at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School, 201 E. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting. To apply for membership, a school needs one mentor teacher and four to six students who would like to become critics.

The reviews are published online and in newspapers, and critics' favorites are honored at an awards gala in the spring. Last year, 35 schools from Pennsylvania and New Jersey participated in the project, one of 18 Cappies programs in the United States and Canada.
