N.J. nonprofit to help train charter school boards

Foundations Inc., a nonprofit in Moorestown, is using a $25,000 grant to develop a training program for charter school boards. "Across the nation, the charter school arena is growing rapidly, but with this growth comes many challenges, including the challenge of finding qualified individuals to serve on boards," Julie Stapleton-Carroll, Foundations' director of school services, said in a statement released yesterday.

The training materials, which will be completed in the spring, initially will be directed toward charter schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware before the organization launches a larger rollout. - Martha Woodall
