A 65-year-old Bryn Athyn woman died after she was struck by a passing van in a Huntingdon Pike crosswalk Monday, police said yesterday.

A 65-year-old Bryn Athyn woman died after she was struck by a passing van in a Huntingdon Pike crosswalk Monday, police said yesterday.

Melinda Nemitz was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4 p.m. accident, Bryn Athyn Police Chief Glenn Coffin said. The driver, a 71-year-old man, stopped after the incident and was questioned by police. No charges had been filed, and alcohol was not suspected as a factor, though the investigation was continuing yesterday, Coffin said.

Coffin said that more witnesses remained to be interviewed and that an autopsy and reconstruction of the accident had not been completed. Anyone with information is asked to call Bryn Athyn police at 215-947-0118. - Derrick Nunnally
