Four girls darted into traffic and were struck by a car yesterday in Darby Borough. None of the children - two pairs of sisters between 7 and 10 years old - was injured seriously, police said.
The accident happened about 1 p.m. in the 900 block of Main Street. The children, all from Darby, ran from behind a landscaper-type truck that was stopped at a light in the eastbound lane. A smaller sedan, driven in the westbound lane, struck the girls.
Police said that there was nothing the driver, whom they did not identify, could have done to avoid the accident, and that they did not expect charges to be filed. The girls were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a precaution. - Mari A. Schaefer
