Blind woman sexually assaulted in Mayfair

A 50-year-old blind woman was attacked yesterday afternoon at her home in the city's Mayfair section, police said.

A man approached the woman from behind as she walked into her house and pushed her inside, where he beat and raped her, according to authorities.

Police were called to the residence around 5 p.m. The woman was being treated at the hospital last night and had not yet been interviewed by detectives. The Special Victims Unit was investigating. - Troy Graham
