A week after the hit-and-run crash that killed an 85-year-old pedestrian in Elkins Park, Cheltenham police yesterday released more details of the suspect and van believed to be involved.

The Nov. 30 crash on Church Road near Old York Road killed Frances Gordon of Elkins Park, and police say they believe she was struck by an unmarked white cargo van, possibly a Ford made between 2000 and 2007, with a ladder rack.

The driver is described as a tall, thin white man between 45 and 55 years old who has short gray or white receding hair and was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Police said the driver stopped after striking Gordon, got out of the van, and looked around before driving eastbound on Church Road.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Cheltenham police at 215-885-1600, Ext. 1. - Derrick Nunnally
