A Philadelphia woman has agreed to plead guilty in federal court to embezzling $53,327 from a day-care program run by the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia.

Aaliyah Lyles-Macon, 31, is accused of taking the funds between June and December of last year. She worked as an administrative assistant at the club's Germantown location, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph J. Kahn said yesterday.

Lyles-Macon's job was to collect fees from parents enrolling their children in day care. She kept a portion of the proceeds for herself, and falsified the club's books so the thefts would escape notice, according to a plea memorandum filed yesterday.

The case was investigated by the FBI because the group receives federal funding. She is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 18. - Nathan Gorenstein
