A realigned Chester County intersection reopened yesterday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said. Two months of construction, which included adding traffic signals, was completed on Sugars Bridge Road at Route 322 in West Bradford Township, according to a news release. The intersection was upgraded to prepare for its use as a detour when the Copes Bridge on Route 162 in East Bradford Township is closed for rehabilitation on Jan. 4, the release said.
The bridge, built in 1807, will be reconstructed so that it no longer requires a 15-ton weight restriction. It is scheduled to reopen next December, the release said. For more information, visit www.dot.state.pa.us. - Kathleen Brady Shea
