Police were searching for a North Philadelphia man accused of raping one woman and stabbing another last weekend in the city's Hunting Park section.

Orlando Cabero, 39, was an acquaintance of the 40-year-old and 20-year-old victims. The three were together early Sunday in the 800 block of Schiller Street, said Sgt. Ray Evers, a police spokesman.

Cabero, also known as Jumbo or June, is accused of choking and stabbing the older woman and sexually assaulting the younger one. When he fled, authorities said, the women called police, who took them to a hospital. The 40-year-old remained in stable condition yesterday with wounds to her upper body and defensive injuries to her arms, Evers said.

Cabero, considered armed and dangerous, is 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds with long, curly, black hair that he sometimes pulls into a ponytail. His last known address was in the 2300 block of North Fourth Street. Cabero - who is charged with assault, sexual assault, and 13 related counts - is known to frequent Fourth and Cambria Streets, Fifth and Clearfield Streets, and Front and Lehigh, Evers said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3253. - Sam Wood
