Army sergeant from Poconos dies in Afghanistan

CANADENSIS, Pa. - Army Sgt. First Class Michael P. Shannon, 52, of Canadensis in Monroe County, suffered a fatal heart attack Sunday in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The Defense Department said he was assigned to the headquarters of the Seventh Army and U.S. Army Europe, in Heidelberg, Germany. - AP
