Woman, 40, fatally shot in Frankford; suspect held

A 40-year-old woman was shot to death in the city's Frankford section last night by a man who allegedly called a fellow employee to say he shot his girlfriend for cheating on him, police said.

The employee called 911 and met police in the 1100 block of Overington Street, where they could see the woman through a window on the living room floor, police said. The officers forced their way in and found that the woman had been shot in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 8:58 p.m.

The suspect, David Bowen, 49, was found on the second floor and was arrested, police said. A revolver was recovered at the scene. - Robert Moran
