A 10-year-old boy was in critical condition yesterday after being bitten and scratched repeatedly by at least one dog in the East Frankford section of Philadelphia.
The boy was bleeding profusely when police found him in the middle of the Whitehall Commons baseball field in the 1900 block of Wakeling Street at 11:13 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said. The boy was treated at St. Christopher Hospital for Children.
Police were still attempting last night to find the dog - or dogs - involved and the owner, Vanore said.
It was the second serious dog attack of the weekend in Philadelphia, following the fatal attack on Christine Staab, 38, by her mother's pit bull in their Oxford Street rowhouse in Fishtown. - Derrick Nunnally
