Grant will aid charter curriculum for Latinos
The Aspira Association announced Thursday that it had received a $450,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation to develop a culturally sensitive curriculum that can be used by charter schools across the country that enroll large numbers of Latino students.

Officials made the announcement at Aspira's Antonia Pantoja Charter School in Hunting Park. Aspira is an educational and Latino advocacy organization.
Once the material has been developed, it will be made available through Aspira's national network of Latino, nonprofit and community organizations. Teachers at Aspira charter schools in Philadelphia, Chicago and Florida will be trained to use the curriculum. The resource also will be available at the Verizon Foundation's educational Web site Thinkfinity.org - Martha Woodall
