Sheetz allowed to sell takeout beer in Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will allow the Sheetz convenience store chain to serve beer and sell it for takeout at one of its largest Western Pennsylvania locations. The Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania said it would appeal Wednesday's decision.

Sheetz had a license to sell beer for takeout in the Altoona store, but the state Supreme Court ruled that Sheetz was afoul of the law by not letting customers also drink in the fast-food area of the store. Sheetz reapplied for the license to also serve beer on the premises. - AP
